San Luis Obispo Earth Day, "Get Down to Earth"

Earth Day 2012

This year, Earth Day SLO will occur on the actual 42nd anniversary of Earth Day, Sunday, April 22nd, 2012.
This is the largest free annual environmental event in San Luis Obispo (SLO) County.  The event, themed “Get Down to Earth”, will be held in beautiful setting of El Chorro Regional Park from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

San Luis Botanical Gardens

The expansive El Chorro Regional Park is located off Highway 1 between San Luis Obispo and Morro Bay.  The natural park is also the home of the San Luis Obispo Botanical Garden, The Steve Weiss AIDS Living Memorial Grove, Dairy Creek Golf Course and features a day use area with bar-be-que facilities, volleyball courts, an off-leash dog park, horseshoe pits, softball fields and various hiking trails.

Earth Day

As the official coordinators of a free Earth Day event since 1990, Earth Day Earth Day Alliance (EDA) is partnering with San Luis Obispo County Parks and the San Luis Obispo Botanical Gardens to produce the annual SLO County Earth Day. Regional Transit Authority (RTA), a major sponsor, will arrange for free bus rides from all areas of the county, to and from the park throughout the day.

Applications for sponsorships and exhibitors are accepted through March 30, 2012.  Businesses, groups,  agencies and individuals who would like to play a major role in Earth Day 2012 would receive special recognition for their participation and contributions via banner placement and a premium boot site, in addition to other Earth Day 2012 benefits. Volunteers are also sought to make this event a major success.
